We are always emphasizing to our customers the importance of keeping their HVAC system clean. However, many people are unaware of the critical role a dirty evaporator coil can play in energy efficiency. The following symptoms indicate you may need to have your evaporator coil cleaned.

Your Air Conditioner Is No Longer Cooling

Few things are more frustrating than turning on your air conditioner on a warm day only to realize the house has not cooled down to your liking hours later. Dirt and grime buildup decreases your coil’s ability to draw heat from the air before the air circulates into your home. If you experience the frustration of an air conditioner that blows but is no longer effective at cooling, our technicians may recommend the following:

  • Evaporator coil cleaning
  • Air filter cleaning or replacement
  • HVAC system inspection

Your Energy Bill Increases

A dirty evaporator coil may cause your energy bill to increase. Even if you have yet to notice a decrease in effectiveness at cooling, a coil that is covered in debris and dust works harder to do its job. Your HVAC system will consume more energy to fuel the extra effort, and as a result, you will likely see an increase in your bill.

Your Coil Is Frozen

When an evaporation coil is covered in dust to the extent that it is unable to pull heat from the air, condensation may accumulate on the coil. That condensation may freeze. If you notice a frozen coil, turn your air conditioner off immediately and call us for help. In addition to keeping your system clean, we also offer:
